The Association

SyStconnect is the association of systemic constellation facilitators from all countries and serves as a platform for them to share information about quality in constellation work, to present their own services, and to share their offerings with non-members and, above all, clients.

We promote the various nuances, or dialects, of the SySt® method and the networking of consultants who offer high-quality constellation work. We see ourselves as an international point of contact for anyone interested in the method and wishing to network, or who wants to learn more about the method and quality in constellation work.

We provide potential clients with clear information about the areas of expertise and formal qualifications of systemic constellation facilitators. We maintain close ties with Insa Sparrer and Matthias Varga von Kibed, the founders of the method, while remaining independent of the SySt® Institute in Munich and other institutes where the method or its "language" can be learned.

The current members of the association's board are:

Carmen Pipola (CH), Kathrin Leppla (AT), Christina Mittendorfer (AT)

Ethical stance and principles in systemic constellation work

The SyStconnect members are committed to the following principles and methods:

  • Every client is autonomous and self-determined.

  • We work in a solution-focused and respectful manner.

  • We refrain from interpretations, judgments, and evaluations.

  • Every client knows their own system best. We operate from a position of not-knowing in relation to the client's system.

  • Our work provides a framework in which clients can discover what is authentic and resonates with them. We offer options, and clients have the freedom to choose.

  • Client and systemic facilitator meet as equal partners.

  • We view systemic constellation work as part of a process.

  • In a solution-focused preliminary consultation, we clarify the scope of the session and offer at least a follow-up consultation.

  • We ensure the confidentiality of personal and organizational information.

SyStconnect as an association

  • offers its members concrete networking opportunities and a framework for research work;

  • is committed to the high qualifications of its members, which we promote through opportunities for mutual exchange and networking;

  • is committed to high quality standards defined in the methodology;

  • creates transparency regarding the professional backgrounds and qualifications of its members, specifically in the method of Structural Constellations® / SySt®;

  • supports its international presence through conferences and symposia, which can be organized by the members themselves.

SyStconnect develops through the active engagement of its members.

The main tasks of the Association of Systemic Constellation Facilitators are:

  • Quality assurance for Systemic Constellation Services®

  • Marketing for Systemic Constellation Facilitators

Initiation and support of the network of constellation facilitators worldwide and its activities

SyStconnect fulfills these tasks by, among other things:

  • operating this website for clients, members, and other interested parties, which

  • maintains a list of qualified systemic constellation facilitators (quality list) with a search function, containing information about the training, specializations, and professional background of the listed systemic constellation facilitators.

  • listing systemic constellation facilitators can advertise seminars, events, and training courses.

  • establishing protected forums where various interest groups can meet and exchange information (e.g., organizations, families, health, creative fields, etc.).

  • supporting initiatives that promote networking among systemic constellation facilitators from all countries, such as conferences and congresses.

Cooperations

SyStconnect has entered into a cooperation agreement with the following associations. SyStconnect members thus have the opportunity to participate in events of the cooperating associations at a reduced rate.

  • ASC – Austrian Solution Circle

  • DGfS – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Systemaufstellungen

  • Infosyon – Internationales Forum für System-Aufstellungen in Organisationen und Arbeitskontexten

  • ÖfS – Österreichisches Forum Systemaufstellungen

  • ISCA – International Systemic Constellation Association

History of the Association

The Founding Years and First Decade: 2005 - 2014

Autumn 2005

Renate Daimler develops a concept for an association of systemic constellation facilitators, aiming for quality assurance and networking. With the approval of the founders, Insa Sparrer and Matthias Varga von Kibéd, she initiates a small steering committee consisting of Doris Landauer and Michael Thonhauser. Together, they present the concept to interested parties, leading to the formation of a working group with varying membership, in which the fundamentals and possibilities of implementation are discussed.

January – March 2006

Following the founding of the Austrian Forum for Systemic Constellations (ÖfS), the working group drafts the "Chiemsee Memorandum." After intensive discussions with Insa Sparrer and Matthias Varga von Kibéd and members of the ÖfS board, this memorandum establishes an independent position for systemic constellation facilitators and confirms the necessity of officially founding their own association.

April 2006 – February 2007

During an intensive work phase, in which the composition of the working group changed repeatedly, the association's name, mission statement, statutes, logo, communication structure, and content for the first congress were developed. Finally, in January 2007, the statutes of the ProSySt association were adopted. Renate Daimler and Doris Landauer were elected by the group as the first board members and officially registered the ProSySt association with the association authority in Vienna.

March 2007 to February 2008

There were some ups and downs, and various initiatives were launched to advance the development of the association. Finally, in the fall of 2007, Renate Daimler and Michael Thonhauser continued with renewed energy. Building on the existing foundations, the name ProSySt was changed to "SyStconnect" (based on a suggestion by Matthias Varga von Kibéd and Renate Daimler), thus emphasizing the increased international focus. A core team is formed for this purpose at two meetings in Vienna.

March – June 2008

The first international meeting takes place in Munich (following an informal meeting in Piran), strengthening the cross-border connections. With the support of Insa Sparrer and Matthias Varga von Kibéd, the international group decides that the association structure should serve as the legal framework and that the network aspect should be emphasized. From now on, members are no longer required to be members of the association itself, but can demonstrate their affiliation through their connection to the network.

August 2008 – May 2010

The first SyStconnect General Assembly takes place in Salzburg and essentially confirms the adoption of the principles and content of ProSyst. The first board is elected. It consists of Renate Daimler (Austria), Barbara Dollenz (Austria), Marco Ronzani (Switzerland), Hans Peter Schulz (Germany), Michael Thonhauser (Austria), Iris Unger (Germany), and Elisabeth Vogel (Switzerland). Marco Ronzani, Iris Unger, and Hans Peter Schulz soon resign from the board, and Max Berghe von Trips (Germany) is co-opted onto the board. Marco Ronzani founds the virtual network SyStWorld and dedicates himself to its development. As part of SyStconnect, SyStWorld invites systemic constellation practitioners to network and exchange ideas online. Renate Daimler and Elisabeth Vogel, with the support of Nicole Lauchart and web designer Lena Doppel, develop the association's first website.

June – November 2010

The first SyStconnect Conference is being planned and takes place in Munich. Sixty systemic constellation facilitators from five countries celebrate a successful event with Insa Sparrer and Matthias Varga von Kibéd. At the general meeting, Renate Daimler steps down from the board and is recognized for her dedication to the association. Elisabeth Vogel, Michael Thonhauser, and Norbert Wandl stand for election to the new board and are elected for a two-year term.

December 2010 – March 2012

Several board meetings were held, and substantive work continued. From March 16-17, 2012, the 2nd SyStconnect Conference was organized and held in Munich with approximately 40 participants. At the general meeting held during this conference, the board was re-elected: Elisabeth Vogel and Michael Thonhauser were re-elected, and Christopher Bodirsky joined the board (replacing Norbert Wandl).

April 2012 – December 2014

The board meets regularly. Networking, substantive work, and quality development and assurance are key areas of focus. A SyStconnect quality seal is designed and introduced. With the participation of Barbara Pelkmann, the board develops an initial concept for quality assurance (IFQC: International Forum for Quality in Systemic Constellations). From December 6-7, 2014, the 3rd SyStconnect Conference is organized and held in Vienna with approximately 100 participants. Following the conference, a collaborative event between SyStconnect and the "Decentralized Balancing" team takes place on the topic of "Living & Working in Connection" with Siegfried Essen and Matthias Varga von Kibéd. The board is re-elected: Christopher Bodirsky is re-elected, and Harald Heinrich, Ursula Vorhemus, and Barbara Pelkmann join (replacing Michael Thonhauser and Elisabeth Vogel). Elisabeth Vogel remains the contact person and country representative for Switzerland.

2014 - 2024

The association is well-established and organizes numerous events, including the SyStconnect conference in Vienna in 2017, which was attended by many colleagues from other European countries. Due to the pandemic and the challenges it presented for in-person events, the association's offerings are shifting more towards virtual formats.

Since 2024

With the newly elected board members Carmen Pipola (CH), Kathrin Leppla, and Christina Mittendorfer (both AT), the association is taking a new direction and modernizing its offerings: Additional formats such as fireside chats and SyStconnect lunches, which invite informal exchange (both virtual formats), are being established; closer cooperation with the Vienna Chamber of Commerce is being forged; and the online community for SyStconnect on communi is being founded, providing a platform for easily accessible, informal exchange.
